His Excellency President John Mahama has been encouraged to rename Kotoka International Airport by comedian and media personality Kwaku Sintim-Misa, also known as KSM.
He has called the current name of the ariport a “disgrace” to Ghana’s past. KSM contended that in order to honor Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s Pan-African legacy and achievements to Ghana’s independence, the airport ought to be named after the country’s first president.
The choice to name the airport after Lieutenant General Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka, the leader of the 1966 revolution that overthrew Nkrumah, was challenged by him.
KSM claims that Kotoka is unworthy of such a significant national landmark because of his part in undermining Nkrumah’s Pan-African vision and his purported connections to foreign forces.
