“I had surgery on my knee a few days ago and I’ve already started my rehab to do what I love most again. It has been the toughest period in my career for sure and it carries on a bit more but I won’t give up,” Takehiro Tomiyasu said after his season ended, indicating that he is now focused on returning for the upcoming season.
After undergoing successful surgery for a right knee injury he initially sustained during the preseason, Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has been sidelined for the rest of the season. Persistent problems required additional corrective surgery, even after an initial procedure in August and a brief comeback to duty against Southampton in October. It is anticipated that his recuperation and rehabilitation would last until the end of this year.
Tomiyasu posted on Instagram to show his resolve: “I had knee surgery a few days ago, and I’ve already begun my rehabilitation to resume my favorite activities. It has undoubtedly been the most difficult time in my career, and it will continue to be so, but I refuse to give up.”
Manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged the setback, stating: “We don’t know [the exact timeline], because he said that he was feeling some discomfort.”
Tomiyasu’s absence adds to Arsenal’s injury challenges, with key players like Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz also sidelined due to surgeries.
