A Legon Presec student and five other people were detained by the Ghana Police Service for fabricating their kidnapping.
It is rumoured that the student planned his kidnapping as a way to extort money from his parents since he wanted the money to travel outside of Ghana.

His associates staged his kidnapping and then wanted GHC 340,000 as ransom before he was freed; they only received GHC $20,000.

The six persons involved in the plan have all been taken into custody, according to a statement issued by the police.

The statement went on to say that four individuals, including the aforementioned student, were minors and that as a result, their identities would not be disclosed.

The names of the other conspirators are Courage and Isaac Kissi Adjei, also known as Kofi Black.
